Summit - Non Aligned Initiatives in Education

Conference for alternative education

This conference wanted to encourage people to rethink education and the term "academy" on the basis of current discussions about "artistic education". How is education configured today in light of the strong tendencies to homogenize and standardize European academic degrees? The conference participants were asked to discuss new forms of knowledge production, as well as ways of articulating and promoting them. The goal was to become more involved in current debates on education with theoretically sound and practical solutions and increase public awareness about educational issues. The organizers also initiated a cooperatation with innovative and distinguished institutions of fine art, colleges and universities, such as the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam and Goldsmiths College in London.
