Curriculum vitae of Lydia Rilling

Lydia Rilling has been the artistic director of the Donaueschingen Music Festival since 2022. From 2016 to 2022, she served as artistic director of the rainy days festival and chief dramaturg at the Philharmonie Luxembourg. In this role, she was one of the initiators of the red bridge project in 2017, which brings together visual arts, music, dance, theater, and performance. As an author, presenter, and journalist, she worked for numerous institutions from 2005 to 2016, including SWR and the Berliner Festspiele. In 2015, she co-curated the “Thinking Together” program at the MaerzMusik festival. From 2011 to 2016, she taught and conducted research as a musicologist at the University of Potsdam. Prior to that, she was a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York. She studied musicology and general and comparative literature in Berlin, Paris, and St. Louis (USA).
